Meet Claire Shorenstein: Sports Dietitian, distance runner, and founder of Eat for Endurance: Nutrition strategies for performance

Hi, I'm Claire!

I'm a Board-Certified Sports Dietitian (MS RD CSSD CDN), distance runner, and Mom of two based in Santa Cruz, California. I provide virtual 1:1 nutrition coaching and other services to athletes of all abilities and host The Eat for Endurance Podcast.

Welcome to Eat for Endurance

I provide virtual counseling to teenage and adult clients on a wide variety of nutrition-related issues, with a speciality in Performance Nutrition. I do not advocate following restrictive diets unless to treat a specific medical condition, as many diets or "lifestyles" negatively impact performance and may lead to nutrition inadequacies and/or disordered eating patterns. Instead, I collaborate with my clients to create individualized and sustainable nutrition plans that allow them to achieve realistic health and performance goals without sacrificing all the joy in their lives!


As a Mom of two girls (ages 3 and 6), I also understand the needs of pregnant and postpartum women as well as the challenges of being a parent. It is a constant and ever-changing balancing act for each of us, finding the time to grocery shop, prepare food, exercise, and spend quality time with loved ones, all while working and/or managing the household, parenting, trying to get enough sleep, taking precious moments for ourselves, and dealing with whatever other curve balls life throws our way. It may feel impossible to find a balance between these things because, let's be honest, it truly is. I can help you prioritize your time and guide you towards making small but significant changes to get you on a path towards better physical and mental health!


Remember, it's never about being "perfect" - that doesn't exist. Nor is there a "one-size-fits-all" approach when it comes to nutrition. We are all (myself included) just doing our best on any given day! I'm the first to admit that my best, even as a dietitian, sometimes looks like a dumpster fire. We are all human!
